About me
I love lying in hammocks, Sertanejo, and making decisions informed by data.
In school, I was the kid who did everyone's math homework (and I'm appropriately ashamed of it). Now, I'm proud to say that I use my powers for good, helping organizations use their data to solve problems and make data-informed decisions.

I’m Ramsay.
― WHAT i DO
Careful analysis. Clear communication.
Across technology, consulting, government, and non-profit roles, my work has focused on one core problem: making complex information understandable and useful.
ᗒ Technical writing: I write user guides and product marketing content for Enterprise software products at Broadcom.
ᗒ Marketing strategy: I help B2B software companies plan and execute winning content marketing campaigns, both as a team member and freelance.
ᗒ Research and synthesis: I helped the Canadian government and non-profits use research to inform policy decisions and advocacy.
― MY BACKGROUND

Statistics:
I learned how to do statistics while working in three psychology research labs during university. I did research about research methods, asking questions like, "Do psychologists adequately justify the validity and reliability of their measures?" and "Do scientists use meta-analysis well?" As a teaching assistant, I even taught undergraduate-level statistics tutorials.

Policy Analysis:
Then I did a Master's in Public Administration and advised on policy analysis in the public sector. My roles led me to do:
ᗒ Economics research for the Canadian Department of Trade
ᗒ Financial research to support treaty negotiations with First Nations for Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada
ᗒ Knowledge translation and leadership for a non-profit in early childhood and family health.

I moved into digital marketing so that I could work remotely and travel. Digital marketing is all about data analysis, so it was the perfect fit. Later, I took an opportunity to exercise my technical communications skills as a technical writer at Broadcom.
When I’m not working, I’m probably swimming or writing online.
Digital Marketing:
― THE COMMON THREAD IN MY WORK
Although my roles have varied, the work itself has been remarkably consistent.
ᗒ In the Canadian government, I analyzed data to inform policy decisions on foreign investment and First Nations treaty negotiations.
ᗒ In the non-profit sector, I researched and communicated the impact of family support programs across British Columbia.
ᗒ As a DEI consultant, I collected and analysed qualitative and quantitative data to help organizations improve equity and inclusion.
ᗒ As a content marketer, I performed keyword research to build and execute content marketing strategy.
ᗒ At Broadcom, I write and maintain user documentation to help customers use our products effectively.
Across all of these contexts, the challenge was the same: to understand a complex problem or product, and then communicate about it clearly for a specific audience.
Different roles. The same underlying problem.
― TOOLS AND WORKING KNOWLEDGE
Practical tools, applied thoughtfully.

Data and analysis: Python, R, SQL, Excel, Tableau (working knowledge)

Content and strategy: SEO, digital content, white papers

Research: qualitative and quantitative methods
Technical writing: DITA, Oxygen XML, Adobe Experience Manager
My background is rooted in research, writing, and analysis. I use tools as a means to an end (clarity and insight), not as an end in themselves.
